California Supreme Court Says Gays Can Marry
Boy! They don't know what they are asking for, huh? But in any event I am on record on the blog as one who supports the right for gays to form a relationship/partnership that is legal and binding and recognized by law that will give gay couples the same legal rights as married couples..but marriage?
Marriage is a religious concept as well as a legal one..for centuries marriage in most societies was just a legal transfer of a woman from her father to another man...the woman had no choice or say so in the matter. Now marriage is recognized by government in this country as a contract between a man and woman (or at least was) that protects both under certain property and inheritance laws as well as eligibility for tax breaks and other government benefits.
My point is that if two people are working side by side..one a man married to a woman and one a man shacked up with another man for the same length of time as the married man has been married..why should the married man get the tax breaks and his wife have the legal rights when the gay guy's shack job gets nothing...look, both the gay guy's significant other and the wife are getting fucked..and when the gay guy dies his significant other gets fucked again...or winds up on welfare and the taxpayers get fucked.
Really people, I can't see that it is gonna make any difference in my life if a couple of fruits decide to marry..at least they ain't gonna propagate any new fruits..and you can't say that about a male/female marriage. And then I also figure that when they find out that divorce costs a lot more than marriage they will be more shackling up than tying a knot anyway...
Now I know that my views will probably piss off some of you..but what the hell..I never said I was trying to please everyone..that is George Bush junior's idea..but I will tell you this..if you really want freedom for yourself be careful when you start
