I had to like the way McCain went after Hassan Obama on the matter of appointing and confirming Federal judges. Obama of course being a socialist followed the dim-a-crit party line and voted against every judge the Prez tried to seat. And, if Obama gets elected to the White House you can bet that the GOP will be fighting him when he tries to seat a socialist on the bench..and people..the law profession if full of socialists.

A lot of the conservatives are pissed at McCain over the so called gang of fourteen action:

Some conservatives dislike his decision to join the "Gang of 14," a group of senators — seven Republicans and seven Democrats — who averted a Senate showdown over whether filibusters could be used against Bush judicial nominees.

People, McCain knew what he was doing! At the time the conservatives wanted to eliminate filabusters on voting judge confirmation. That was fine as long as the conservatives figured they could get a majority vote. But now the shoe is on the other foot..and the conservatives may damn well need the filabuster to keep socialists off the supreme court! ( And for you who do not understand filabuster..google it!)

Filabustering has been the boon and the bane of senate politics...and has been cussed and discussed by politicians and political scientists I reckon every since the process began. However, without the provision for unlimited debate there is no other way to stop tyranny by a majority in the senate. McCain knew this and was smart enough to stop the GOP from eliminating the right to filabuster.

I don't have time to do much this morning. We have to leave for the hospital in a few minutes..sweetthing has to be there at 0600..I am taking me a book..hell, I think I'll take my lap top..its gonna be a long morning.

But, the hospital cafeteria has the kind of jumpstart I like..hot and strong enough that if you don't drink it quick it crawls out of the mug...thats why they serve it with a spoon...you can hit the side of the cup.."Get back in there!"
