Ya Gotta Read This One

The lad should have went into politics! But then I figure that he has more integrity than that...

Projects

Sweetthing and I have been working on a raised bed for veggies this morning. I put together an open bottom box out of plywood...27"X11"X16'. We scraped away the flora and set the box and filled it with a mixture of top soil, cow manure compost, and peat moss. This is the first of four and maybe five that I plan to put together. Each cost about fifty bucks a piece by the time I buy the plywood, 2X4s, and soil/peat moss. But they should last me a couple maybe three years.

I am going to plant red potatoes in this one probably Tuesday....maybe Wed. I want some new potatoes ready about the time the Kentucky pole beans mature which should be the middle or third week of May.

The other beds will be for beans, blackeyed peas, okra, onions, beats, and I have promised sweetthing some sweet corn.

My neighbor hollered at me while we were working. He bought a live trap but couldn't figure out how to get the trap door to function. It was a goat rope of a trap....must have been designed by a Chinese who had never trapped anything. But with some presidential rigging I managed to put it together where it should work. The last time he set out a live trap (a borrowed one) he caught a big sow possum...I wanted to send it to Bush but he wouldn't let me. If we catch another one I am gonna send it to the emperor to see if he actually knows anything about the south.

Something To Think About On A Saturday Morning

When asked by a woman what kind of government the constitutional convention had decided on Benjamin Franklin is said to have responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." And we have not kept it.

Have you ever actually read the Constitution of The United States Of America? See, you don't have to be a student of history (although it helps if you know and understand the background behind this precious document) nor an ambulance chaser to be able to read it and understand what it means.

And, if you have read it have you ever thought knowing what you know now (events that our forefathers could have never envisioned) changes that you would have or would like to have incorporated in the document?

I can think of at least three things that would probably stop the nonsensical deficit spending and the influence by special interest groups:

First would be the franchise...the Constitution as originally written did not directly address the franchise. The right to vote was determined by the states and for the most part was restricted to property owners...white men. Later the 16th amendment was added which although it did not address the franchise the tacit intend was to extend the franchise to freedmen. Later in 1920 the Constitution's 19th amendment gave women the right to vote and in 1964 poll taxes were abolished. The 26th amendment extended the franchise to 18 year olds...(ironic that an 18 year old is considered mature enough to vote but not mature enough to drink alcohol.) Now, before you get tired of this dry stuff and say "WTF is your point?" consider this...
When the constitution was put together the framers fully understood the dangers of democracy and I have no doubt that is why they left the franchise up to the various states. However, the later amendments are the problem.

I propose and amendment that would limit the franchise. The voting age would be raised to 21 years old. There should be some requirements to vote:

1.-Persons who pay no taxes, income or otherwise, should not be allowed to vote to tax people who do pay income and other taxes. An exception is those who have served honorably in the country's military service.

2.-No government employee (at any level) including military service should have the franchise. Government employees have a huge voting block and in some states virtually control the electoral process and vote for representatives and senators who will insure that the government employees will feed at the public trough.

3.-The right to vote should be tempered with the right of the public to know that the voter is a legitimate voter. Toward that end a picture identity will be presented at the poll to prove identity. Moreover, no person who has not registered to vote at least thirty days prior to the election date will be allowed to vote. Absentee ballots and 'early voting' will be abolished.

The second change I would include would be on taxes. The public was conned into approving the 16th amendment which gave congress the authority to tax income. The con was that only the wealthy would be taxed and even that tax would be a small tax. The politicians promised that only those making over $10,000 dollars pen annumn (the top ten percent of wage earners of the era) and the tax would be small..perhaps only one percent. You can see what happened. I would suggest the following changes:

The 16th amendment should be repealed. A new amendment would establish a consumer tax that would be paid at the cash register...if one doesn't want to pay taxes then one doesn't consume. The amendment will include a direction to congress that the tax will not be increased without a two thirds majority vote by both the house and senate.

The third change I want to see regards congressional spending. Those of us who have some basic understanding of economics and the economy realize that congressional spending is out of control....primarily because of the first two problems with the constitution I listed. Special interest groups and government employee unions have control of congress and thus the country. Every finance bill that comes out on congress is loaded wit ear marks to put some money in the pockets of some special interest group...at the expense of the taxpayer. There was a time when congress could just raise taxes to cover the shortfall...but now they know that a tax increase is a sure way to lose their jobs when the elections roll around again. So, they just vote to increase the deficit...currently the country is over 11 trillion dollars in debt and congress is in the process of voting special interest groups another 800 billion dollars plus of the nations future. I say we need a constitution amendment that requires a balanced budget each year.

1.-The amendment will require a balanced budget that can only be increased from year to year by the inflation factor. Any deviation will require a two thirds majority approval by the senate.

2. Deficit spending will be allowed only during a national emergency declared by a two thirds majority of congress. Moreover, when deficit spending is approved a payment plan with a fixed pay off date will be established. The funds needed for the deficit spending will be raised if at all possible from the American public via bonds. Borrowing from foreign governments will be the last resort even if interest rates from such governments are less than bond rates.

Wound there amendments make a difference? I think so...for one thing it would change this country back to a republic instead of a democracy. Democracies are doomed to fail because of the 'bread and circus' factor...when the majority realizes they can loot the minority legally via the vote they will do so...and it is happening to us right now as I write!

Will such changes create a hardship for some? Probably. Those who work for a living generally are generous and charitable to those who truly need help. However, these same charitable people resent having to fund the medical care for a woman who has 14 children and no husband and no job...and eight of these children illegitimate. Do you really think that she would have done this if she knew that the public was not going to pay for them...for the next eighteen plus years?

The United States of America has been in the past fifty years the most productive nation on this earth. But this productivity is not because of government...it has happened in spite of government. But it cannot possibly continue. It is doubtful in my mind that we can even pay the national debt that we now have without a big increase in taxes and increases in taxes always hurt productivity. But, by limiting future spending it is possible to grow our way out of debt...at least my grandchildren might see a day when there is no national debt and they will be able to retain a larger portion of their production.

Now, I have my doubts that many of you have read this far. History and political science are dry subjects for most and kinda heavy even for my thick head. But, if you have your comments and ideas are welcome. If you think that I am just full of shit then please say so...but when you do give some rationale for your logic. But keep this in mind...if YOU are not part of the solution then YOU are part of the problem. And the solution is just not throwing other people's money at the problem. Thanks guys..you are the best!

GOOD GAWD GIRTY WHAT A GASH! And the moderates are patting themselves on the back because they are gonna spend 800 billion that the country does not have instead of a trillion. Trillion? Tell you what..do the math on a trillion compounded at just four percent over the next thirty years. That is what this is gonna cost us...well, maybe not. I figure what will happen is the same thing that has happened to other countries that have tried to spend their way to prosperity...they went bankrupt and just refused to pay the debts. See, if you ain't got it you just ain't got it and government can only squeeze so much out of taxpayers before they revolt. Remember the Boston Tea party?

I would advise you to buy lead and lots of it but too many people have already taken my advise...lead is hard to find. But I did find a place yesterday that had a couple of hundred rounds of Winchester .45 acp @ $24.95 per fifty round boxes. DAMN. I only bought half of what he had left...didn't want to appear to be greedy.>

The weather is warming up...just in time too. I kinda hate to plant potatoes in ice! Me and sweetthing plan on working outside most of the day. I have some raised beds to build and then several yards of dirt to haul in to fill them. I hope to get the potatoes and some onion sets in the ground by mid week as well as some strawberries. If it stays warm I'll put out some tomato sets in a couple of weeks and then plant pole beans around the first of March. Sweetthing wants a couple of rows of sweetcorn so I have promised her we will put it in. Should be interesting trying to keep the varmits out of it.

Sweetthing says I gotta go suck that horse piss tasting stuff out of the gotdam nebulizer and take my pills. She bribes me with the promise of an extra mug of jumpstart....y'all come. heah?

Just Charming, HUH?

Awwww, ain't this a shame? maybe the ragheads thought that the UN shipments had peanut butter in them....

Heart Touching

Normally I do not post these kind of e-mails, but even by my standards it was a bit touching and I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read it. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.

This is so beautiful...

A little boy says to his mother, "Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?"

His mother replied, "Don't even go there! From what I can remember about that fucking party, you're lucky you don't bark!

Varmit Hunting

My friend Jack who lives in the great North West sent me this picture and asked me if I could spot the varmit in it. I saw it within a second...but then I have hunted the mountains in Montana and have seen these varmits in their natural habitat. And don't ever think they don't bite.

Cold Weather Damage

It has finally warmed up a bit...enough that it is comfortable outside in a light jacket. I have been out for a couple of hours cleaning in my shop as well as assessing the cold weather damage to the flora. The perennial stuff pulled through Okay I reckon but some of the sorta kinda perennials are gone...I have some that are perennial in the sub tropic but annuals else where...and they are damn sure annuals on sweetthing's half acre this year.

These Formosa azaleas were looking good until the freeze got to the flowers. I am hoping that a few days of warm weather will start them blooming again but I figure that hope is kinda like the hope that the Emperor's cult has...mostly wistful thinking.

This looks kinda dreary right now. But by the middle of March it should have some color again. I will put out some flowering annuals in hanging pots and one bed will be full of various colored caladium and maybe some wax leaf begonias. I am not that crazy about begonias but they are tough little plants that don't need much maintenance from me...just some water and food once in a while.

Sweetthing's house plants are thriving. She has the right idea..water and feed once a week and just leave them alone.

A Point To Ponder

Once in a great while I run across an editorial in one of the MSM that is worth the paper it is written on... THIS is one of them.

Michael Gerson writes to criticize the Pope for reinstating Bishop Richard Williamson who had been ex-communicated although Williamson has continued to preach that the Holocaust never happened. But more important I think is that he makes the point that not only did the Christian churches in Germany condone the atrocity they were at times complicit with Hitler's government. No, before you scream...not all but a significant number were. The fact is that without the complicity of the German public it could not have happened.

My Christian friends and relatives are quick to deny or at least try to explain away these atrocities committed by Christians in the recent past by saying, "They were not true Christians. This could never happen in the USA!" Ohhh?

The U.S.of A. consists primarily of descendants of Europeans...Europeans who fled to escape religious persecution in Europe only to do the same in their new world communities. Yes, it could happen in the USA...it HAS happened here. or at least did before a secular government was installed that has so far mostly prevented it.

But in any event such atrocities against mankind can and will happen again and will be caused and led by religious leaders. Currently it is the Islamic world that is committing the crimes in the name of religion and god. But the crimes committed by Christian leaders during the Rwandan genocide was only some fifteen years ago.

Since the beginning of the course of human events shamans have claimed that the people must follow their leadership because that is what GOD wills them to do. And humans have for the most part followed to gain that promised "pie in the sky". But it has NEVER been about the power of a deity...it has ALWAYS been about the power coveted by the shamans. And it is no different today whether it is the Pope in Rome or the reverend Wright in Chicago. The only difference is the amount of power over their flock that they have accumulated. And my friends, consider this, socialism is in fact a religion..it is just that it has no deity except its leader.

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902). historian and moralist

Now think about this when you are considering supporting the man the public has made their messiah...

Heh, Russian Jets unsafe at any speed? So, what To do?

"In December, soon after the last crash of the MiG-29, Russia announced it would give Lebanon 10 MiG-29s as a gift, adding that the aircraft were not new and each warplane had a different degree of wear. Russia promised to modernize the jets "to normal export standards" before delivery."

Hmmmm, I thought the Russians liked the ragheads....

I fear we are screwed! But then maybe not. If the socialists push this through as it looks like they are going to it might just be the beginning of the end of the end of the socialists. I fully expect some new fiscal conservative blood to step to the forefront and get elected to congress in 2010. And by 2012 the people should have realized that the Emperor is all sack and no cotton. But for now the best we can hope for is that we still have the right to vote come 2012.

The irony is that the Emperor claims that the Bush policies failed and pushed the country into this economic recession. But yet the Emperor is wanting to do the same thing as Bush...and that is spend lots of money that the government does not have...and probably cannot borrow and will have to find it by either raising taxes or just printing more money. I would say something about the pot calling the kettle black here but I don't want to get any more hate mail from the PC Crowd.

The weather quacks say it is gonna start warming up today and be in the high seventies by tomorrow afternoon. Works for me. I got things to do and places to go and I just can't seem to get my starter to work in cold weather. Does kinda piss me off that it is supposed to be a nice day Monday and I have an appointment with my primary care quack. I hate to waste a nice day on a quack.

I gotta go bust the ice off the bird bath. Y'all come back, heah?

Most Used Modern Invention Of The Past Fifty Years!

I was wandering through the house this morning and noted that sweetthing and I have what is probably the most used modern invention over the past fifty years available in every room...naaaa not the color TV although we got them also. That modern invention is something that we don't even think about until we are out of it...

Yep, PAPER TOWELS! How did we ever do without them? Around sweetthing's half acre we use them for everything from bathroom hand towels to Kleenex. Remember when it was
"JAMES LEWIS! Don't blow yore nose on my apron! Go get the dish rag."? Now adays that Momma just reaches for that roll of paper towels.

I keep a roll in the office that I use on occasion to blow my nose as well as wipe up a spilled coffee mess or even to use to wipe down the table after I get through cleaning guns. Of course the enviro-nuts pee their pants over this...kills all them trees you see. But tell me, what had you rather use to clean up dawg puke on the kitchen floor...a tea towel that you are gonna have to wash or throw away or a couple of Bounty towels that you can just dispose of so easily.

Cold outside

Sometimes it is hard to find a silver lining in that damn cloud...especially when that cloud is 10 degrees colder than normal. But it does just prove to me that Al Gore lies like a damn hound dawg.

Dear Guy,
Brrrrrrrr!!!!!
Dress warmly, it is seriously cold this morning! This is the coldest air of the season with some of us starting out in the 20s.
Today will be cool again, but it will be less windy so it will not feel as cold as yesterday afternoon did.
Tonight Freeze Warnings are in effect for the entire region except Pinellas.
The warm-up starts Friday afternoon. more...

Sincerely,
Meteorologist Jennifer Hill

Good Morning Blog World

The emperor and the congress are not going away on this spending bill...I refuse to call it an economic stimulus bill because so far it doesn't do anything to help the economy...in fact it looks to me like it will just increase the problems by putting the government another trillion bucks in debt. But there is a wee bit of hope. The longer the Senate fiscal conservatives can hold out the more support they can get from the public and the public is already against the bill.

The public is not quite as stupid as the emperor figures...even if they did vote him into office. See, economies have always fixed themselves in spite of government intervention. If the emperor can get this bill passed and the economy fixes itself..as it always has in the past...then the emperor can claim credit. And then, if it does not get better he can scream for more deficit spending and blame it all on Bush. But by then the taxpayers will know better...and realize for sure that the emperor ain't wearing any clothes.

Sweetthing and I had a pretty good day yesterday. She says THANK YOU to all of you that wished he a Happy Birthday yesterday. And she says to tell you that it was a happy day.

It is bitter cold again this morning. The bird bath is frozen solid again and although it is supposed to warm up later in the day it is gonna be bitter cold again tonight. Now this just ain't right! We always get some cold nights during January and February but not a solid week of them! At least the weather quacks allow it is warming up starting tomorrow and will continue into next week. I hope they are right. I need to get some potatoes planted as well as some beets and turnips. Too early yet for pole beans and of course okra and black eyed peas.

I got a hint to you PC novices like me...do your Windows updates and be damn sure you look at those non-critical updates that are available. It took me several hours yesterday just to bring my windows media player up to date. Hell, I seldom ever used it and wasn't worried about any updates to it. I learned the hard way...well, most of my learning was attained via the school of hard knocks.

I have been playing a bit on Facebook...kinda fascinating how rapidly people found out that I had signed up for the thing. Lots of gregarious people out there, huh? (For you dim-a-crits...gregarious means friendly)

Sweetthing just brought me what she allows is my last mug of jumpstart for the day. DAMN. I kinda wanted another pot. Cold weather and hot coffee just seem to go together. For that matter any kind of weather and hot coffee match up pretty good for me. Y'all come, heah? It will give me an excuse to put another pot on...

Sony Walkman MP3 Player

I gave sweetthing this Sony Walkman MP3 player for her birthday present. I got her a ION Tape2PC deck last month and managed to download her favorite cassettes to my PC and then transfer the music to CDs. If this MP3 is as simple as it is supposed to be I should be able to transfer to it direct. Sometimes I wonder how I get myself into this techie stuff...

Good Morning Blog World

Sixty seven years young today! Yep, that's my sweetthing and forty five of those years has been by my side...or behind me pushing me during those times when I took two steps forward and three back. Happy Birthday sweetthing. I love you.

Had a freeze here again last night. I need to get Al Gore on the phone and ask him whazzz up with this global warming? Did you know that before the enviro-nutz got started on global warming it was all about global cooling? And when we all didn't die they decided that it was warming instead? And now they can't make up their minds so they are calling it climate change and want to tax agri-business for animal farts.
I hope they don't get a wild hair and decide to tax dawg farts...my old Miss Sassie Poodle can at time cut one loose except you can't hear it...she just sniffs the air and looks at me with a smirk like "I got even huh?" That dawg could cost me a lot of money. She reminds me of the dawg in that book "Hotel New Hampshire" I think it was where they stuffed the dawg and caused the grandpa to have a hear attack. Just sayin...probably nobody read that book but me...

The emperor is making some new rules for company executives who accept the bail out money from the government. He allows that $500,000 per year is enough for them to live on. I reckon so..congress makes less although they do think they have the tacit approval of the voters to take all they can steal without getting caught...that is if they are republicans. When democrats get caught they are awarded with a committee chair.

Some critics say this ain't gonna work because business can't get the management they need at a half million a year per. Hmmm, maybe. But where else are they gonna go? But in any event I disagree with Obama on this as well as the bail outs. First of all I disagree with the bail out money and second if a company decides to take the money the honchos of that company...the ones who fucked up...should be fired and a whole new platoon of thieves brought in. And I do have a question to the stock holders..wtf? Where were you at while all this was happening?

Now what coach? This is shaping up to be world war three with the events leading up to it about the same as the events leading up to world war two. An aggressor hates the Jews and wants to wipe them out. The aggressor builds a strong military and the countries threatened by the aggressor sign pacts appeasing the aggressor who of course sees the appeasement as weakness and attacks. Iran is an aggressive nation led by aggressive mullahs who could give a shit about the lives of the people...theirs or ours...as long as they can stay in control of those left. And Obama is trying to appease them by offering to talk directly with their government? And Iran has already used this as propaganda saying it show weakness. The more I think about it the more I believe that a first strike making Tehran a smoldering pile of sand might be in the best interest of all of this earth....including the Islamic world. And I would bet that the Saudis would concur.

Does it seem strange to anyone that the Iranians are screaming that they have to get more money for their crude oil because they are going broke but still have enough to send up a satellite? And appear to still be working on building a nuke? People, we went into the wrong countries. Instead of Iraq and Afghanistan we should have taken Iran and hung the ruling Mullahs.

And the jumpstart is hot and thick and I am on my second half liter mug full. I still don't have an answer from sweetthing about going out for her birthday. Maybe she will decide to just stay home. Y'all come see me heah? (I got me one of them faceoff Face Book pages that I'm trying to figure out. Drop by if you are friendly, heah?)

2009/02/03

Heh

Tom Daschle has withdrawn and says..."he's not a leader who has the full faith of Congress and will be a distraction." No shit! He didn't have the full faith of congress when he was in congress and his home state fired him!

But never doubt people that if the bloggers of this country (and of course Fox News) had not raised hell he would have been confirmed. We have put the pressure on the senate republicans to act like republicans instead of puppets for the emperor and looks like it is having an effect. Now if the senate republicans will stand together and filibuster this damn economic stimulus bill that the socialists in the house have designed to bankrupt the country.

What's Fer Dinner GUYK ??

Hows about a big bowl of okra and tomato soup? Boiled up with some sliced all pork sausage..that great smoked kind..and thickened with a bit of corn starch. Cover this with some coarse ground black pepper and chase it with a mug of think coffee. Yep, a good warm meal for a somewhat chilly day.

Pickled Eggs

Sweetthing and I just put the lid on this jar of pickled eggs. This time I used a vinegar solution consisting of one part water and one part vinegar, two tablespoons of powdered garlic, and two tablespoons of chopped, canned jalapeno peppers. Brought the whole solution to a roaring boil and poured it over 18 eggs and immediately capped the jar.

In about five days they will be ready to run the dawgs out from under the bed covers.

WTF? OVER?

I just can't understand the Emperor's logic. See, during his campaign he said that he wanted a strong military and wanted to do whatever it takes to win in Afghanistan. But now he is telling the Department of Defense that they will have to cut spending by ten percent.

People, look..DOD spending is one of the things that DOES create jobs. Is there waste? Hell yes there is waste..a lot of it...it is after all run by the government and I will take a bet that NONE of you can show me one gotdam government program that is not full of waste. But the point is that every new tank, every new airplane, hell, every box of 7.62 NATO is made by AMERICAN workers...and for the most part you don't have to press one for English.

Robert Kagan writes it better than I can in the Washington Post...but then I reckon he should write it better than I can...he gets paid for his hate mail...

Ha!

Heh, the Emperor says he is optimistic that the stimulus bill will pass in a couple of weeks...see, he allows that there are just minor differences of opinion about the bill. But he is concerned about public perception...

"One source said Obama appeared to be frustrated by the public perception that the recovery bill was becoming laden with partisan pet projects."

NO SHIT SHERLOCK! The whole gotdam bill is partisan pet projects..and all of them from the socialists in the house. Voters are already having second thoughts about the emperor...maybe he ain't wearing any clothes after all!

From what I am reading the only good thing about what may come out of the senate is a rider that McCain wants to add:

"And Sens. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) will attempt to secure their long-sought earmark reform legislation by attaching it to the must-pass bill."

McCain knows damn well that this is a sure way to get the bill defeated! The senate cannot survive with out the pork earmarks...

Just Say No To Spending

How about doing me (and yourself) a BIG FAVOR and going HERE and signing the petition to congress to back off this damn economic stimulus package.

Good Morning Blog World

I slept hard. I don't know how else to explain going to bed and sleeping over ten hours and waking up tired...so I must have used a lot of energy sleeping, huh? But I do feel better now...nothing like a couple of mugs of thick jumpstart to get over being tired.

Cold weather hit us again this morning after a day of much needed rain..the slow rain that does some good. If the predicted wind hits we will need rain again in a couple of days.

Heh, looks like even the NY Times is questioning the Emperor's ethics. They should have been doing this during the campaign instead of giving him a free ride on every issue.

Remember just a few months ago when the democrats were wanting to put a windfall profit tax on oil companies? And some of the dimmer of the dim-a-crits were wanting to 'socialize' big oil? Have you heard any of them wanting to help now that big oil is losing money? Hell no and you will not! Democrats are like bank robbers..they go for the money...but then they are also like a neighbor hood punk...they will knock over the occasional 7-11 also.

I am listening to Fox Cable News as I write this...they allow that about 54 percent of the voters are against the emperor's economic stimulus package. Does that means that there are 46 percent of the voters who will give up their freedom for bread...that is scary! But one thing it tells me is that WE the bloggers are doing some good. As I told you not long ago we have to fight in the only way we can right now and that is with words! If each of us can reach just one person and get them to understand what they should have learned in economics 101 we can stop this travesty of a bill. If each of us write just one letter per day to our senators we can stop this scam on the American people. Thanks people..you are the best!

I reckon I am past that acid reflux attack from night before last. But I ain't taking no chances...it will be some soft and mind groceries today. I'll put off that big bowl of chili and a fat pork sausage for a couple of days.

I'm gonna get sweetthing to put on another pot of jumpstart and see if I can stay wired for another few hours. By noon it will be just right to wash down a scrambled cackleberry and a bowl of grits. Y'all come heah?

Mill On Individuality

Keep this in mind the next time you think about buying into the left wings ideas of taking your freedom away to "serve the common good".

"Whatever crushes individuality is despotism, by whatever name it may be called and whether it professes to be enforcing the will of God or the injunctions of men."

John Stuart Mill

Heinlein Quotes

You might enjoy looking at some of Heinlein's quotes...he has always made more sense to me than the ancient philosophers and shamen.

Here's a couple that I especially like:

I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.
Robert A. Heinlein

Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.
Robert A. Heinlein

Yep, I reckon so.

Yep...Wish I had said that!

This from a professor of economics:

In stimulus package language, if Congress taxes to hand out money, one person is stimulated at the expense of another, who pays the tax, who is unstimulated. A visual representation of the stimulus package is: Imagine you see a person at work taking buckets of water from the deep end of a swimming pool and dumping them into the shallow end in an attempt to make it deeper. You would deem him stupid. That scenario is equivalent to what Congress and the new president proposes for the economy.

Hat tipped to this astute gentleman...well, astute anyway. Thanks Sam.

Hmmmm

So, what else is new? You can bet the south forty and your grandmother's virginity that anytime there are billions thrown at a war effort a big portion of it will wind up in the pockets of scam artists. And a lot of these scam artists are friends of congress and/or other high placed government officials. It is easy to blame the poor bastard assigned to the procurement branch...but much of the time he/she has no choice in who gets the contracts. They are directed by a higher pay grade.

If there is any blame to be placed on how the Iraqi war was fought it should be placed squarely where it belongs...on the anti-war protesters whose screaming gave the terrorist bastards hope that they could win. Yeah, Bush fucked up by not putting enough troops on the ground. Real estate taken and not secured is a waste on manpower and money. I blame those Clinton appointed generals for this also...and of course Mr Donald Henry Rumsfeld who I suspect never won a game of chess....

Heh

"Tom Daschle said Monday that he's "deeply embarrassed and disappointed" about his failure to pay more than $120,000 in taxes."

My money says he is embarrassed because he got caught! A dim-a-crit is never embarrassed about stealing from the taxpayers...most of the time they use the legal extortion method of theft called taxes. And no doubt he will be confirmed...that's what the left wing does..surround themselves with thieves.

DAMN

We have lost this war.

When will the public wake up and demand that marijuana be treated just as tobacco and alcohol..two other narcotics that are as dangerous to ones health as marijuana and maybe more so. Look, legalizing will take the money out of it for the drug cartels. I ain't saying they will become model citizens if they can't get rich selling dope..probably just go into the slave traffic or some other criminal endeavor..like politics. But if anyone is gonna make a buck with the stuff how about letting the American farmers do it...legally for a change. And think of all the new tax revenue congress and the emperor will have to blow..

Good Morning Blog World

WOW! What a night. I reckon I overdid on the sea bugs and dip...about midnight my acid reflux refluxed. People, if there was such a thing as passing a law against illness this one should be close to the top of the list. Did you know that people die from this? Well, I ain't dead but my damn throat and windpipe are still burning five hours later. And I am afraid to go back to bed and just can't sleep sitting up anymore. May be a long day today.

But it was a better than average Super Bowl game, huh? I didn't root for either team but was glad to see Arizona come back and make it interesting. I have an idea that some Arizona fans are gonna rename the team...call 'em the Arizona Chokes. But what the hell. Somebody has gotta win and somebody has gotta lose...otherwise why have a game?

Some of the senate republicans allow that they ain't gonna let the emperor's 'screw the taxpayer' bill pass... at least as written. People this bill has more pork fat than Hilary Clinton's thighs! I hope the senate GOP can hold together and stop this madness. I say again....if federal spending stimulates an economy then the past eight years under Bush should have us putting down gold pavement.

My buddy REX sent me an email telling me that I should join up with this outfit called Technorati.
Well, I did all the bullshit required then got a massage saying: "This URL has been flagged by our systems. Please read our Blog Quality Guidelines for more information." Hmmm. So I read their Blog Quality Guidelines. It didn't say anything about drinking the Obama Kool Ade but for some reason I reckon they think I don't have a quality blog. Fuck 'em. As my late friend the acidman said..."If my site don't meet your fucking standards then lower your fucking standards." It ain't like I'm getting paid for all the hate e-mails this site seems to generate.

Sweetthing just came in to check on me...and feed me another anti acid reflux pill...
and told me I need to get some sleep. Yeah, right. I told her to put the jumpstart on and make it extra thick this morning. Fight acid with acid!

I think I'll wonder over to the NY Times. What the fuck...I already feel like shit and nothing they have to say this morning can make me feel any worse. But I'll get over it after I get a quart of jumpstart down. Y'all come, heah?

Sea Bugs

They are now peeled and de-veined and on ice in the fridge just waiting for kickoff time. I'll make up some of my secret shrimp sauce to dip them in after while..

Winter Color

Thanks to AL Gore who has put a stop to global warming we are having a colder than usual winter ere on sweetthing's half acre. Every time my Formosa Azaleas bloom out a freeze hits them. But they are as resilient as Al Gore's ideas about global warming and just keep on keeping on. I have 24 of these things planted in what I hope will eventually grow into a privacy hedge around a grove of Live Oaks. They should be beautiful when they grow to about six feet tall and are in full bloom.

Works For Me

I think this just might bethe answer to our problems.

Sunday Morning Coming Down

The hype today is about SUPER BOWL! I reckon I'll watch it...at least until I eat the shrimp which should last through the first quarter..unless there are a lot of penalties and commercial breaks. I really don't care who wins. I don't have a coon in the tree. Sweetthing allows that she can tell me the score before the game even starts...yeah...nada to nada. Did you know the players really like to play in Florida? Damn right...no state income tax and they make more money for the game.

There was a swishing kinda dude on Fox and Friends this morning telling us what kinda wine to drink at the Superbowl party. I reckon so...if everyone at the party had rather here a fat boy fart than a pretty boy sing. But my bet is that most of the Superbowl parties will have several cases of brew iced down. Not me..I'll have a pot of jumpstart brewing.

At least the weather is gonna be half way nice. Not much wind and in the low to mid sixties by game time...maybe. It was chilly here on sweetthing's half acre this and we are only 80 or so miles from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa...probably cold there also...

I'm not listing the links...look 'em up if you are interested...but in any event the House of Representatives in busy trying to fuck over the nation. They are trying to do everything from charging the Bush administration with war crimes to passing some outrageous bill to take away your second amendment rights..HB 45 I think it is. And while they are not busy doing that they are forming a committee to determine if the descendants of ex-slaves should get some taxpayer money. Damn...if this passes and gets signed by the Emperor I am betting that about 52 percent of the nation claims ex-slave heritage. Them old plantation owners were horny bastards, huh? And in the meanwhile the nation continues a downhill slide into socialism. But then maybe that is what it will take to ever get the voters to understand that they cannot spend their way to prosperity. Once the money is gone and there is no one left to tax and IF we still have the right to vote maybe we can elect a different bunch of thieves to D.C.---a bunch that will encourage business to prosper at least long enough to rebuild to be looted again.

Lots of news this morning. Israelis say they are gonna kick Hamas butt again in retaliation for the missiles the ragheads sent to Israel the other day. The ragheads can't honor any kind of cease fire agreement. It just ain't in them to be honorable.

The Iraqis are actually having an election without killing each other...at least so far. But the Emperor still will not admit that the 'surge' was successful. And you know that woman out on the left coast that had that litter the other day? She ain't married and it will be the taxpayers dollars that pay for all the tremendous medical bills and then to support this woman and her 14 children. People, this is what you get with socialism...the users loot the producers in the name of humanity.

And that's it for now. I gotta thaw out the sea bugs and get them in the steamer and get ready for my private Super Bowl Party. And I ain't serving NO stinkin' wine.Y'all come, heah? I make one hell of a shrimp cocktail sauce...but bring your own beer.
