Good Morning Blog World

Looks like the emperor is waffling on Afghanistan while America's and Nato's finest are getting blown away.

"WASHINGTON — President Obama told Congressional leaders on Tuesday that he would not substantially reduce American forces in Afghanistan or shift the mission to just hunting terrorists there, but he indicated that he remained undecided about the major troop buildup proposed by his commanding general."

Once again I tell you that unless the troops are given the authority to search and destroy with whatever means of destruction needed to get the job done a build up of troops will just give the ragheads someone else to shoot at. Fight to win or get the hell out.

Tax credits are not going to help create jobs. Reducing taxes might. But the best way to create jobs is to kick Obama and his thugs out of the White House and get rid of the socialists and RINOs in congress. Why would any venture capitalist venture capital when the administration is dead set on destroying capitalism? Companies that are making money will hire when they need help. Companies in the red don't pay taxes anyway and any kind of hand out to the company to pay them to hire is subsidizing losers. I agree with this:

“Some bad ideas never go away,” said Howard Gleckman, a senior research associate at the Urban Institute. “It’s just providing incentives to lots of companies that probably aren’t going to make it in the end anyway.”

If everything goes as planned we will be hitting the road after while and will take a leisurely drive to near Ft Hood Texas where we will spend the night and visit with friends. We hope to be on Lake Waurika Thursday night or Friday morning. But leaving Port Lavaca is hard to do...beautiful places and close friends are always hard to leave.

I am working on my second mg of jumpstart and just washed down my morning regiment of pills. I think I am going to read some blogs and hope for some messenger chatline activity this morning before I hit the road. Y'all come. heah?

Good Morning Blog World

Today will probably be the last day and night in the Port Lavaca Lighthouse RV Park. The RV repairman is supposed to be here with the part to fix the Jayco sometime today and we will hit the road about daylight in the morning. I am going to miss this place and the Becky and her family. Sweetthing allows she has been ready to go since we got here.

Becky and Mike are picking me up later this morning and are going to show me the local museum that has some relics from an ancient ship that was recovered from the bay. I like to browse in museums that contain relics from the local history. Later today Becky and her daughter Ally are taking me out to dinner...Becky guarantees the best seafood on the coast....sounds like a plan, huh?
.....................................................................................

Afghanistan is in the news this morning...eight more of America's finest were killed over the weekend as the emperor tries to decide what to do there. The way this empty suit of a president thinks he will be trying to blame it on Bush and start campaigning for reelection by the weekend. People, there have been presidents that I disagreed with in the past....but never one that I despised. And I despise this commie sumbitch.
......................................................................................

My fingers are stiff this morning. I gotta down my pills and a darvocet and a mug of jumpstart and then read and write some e mails. And I am hoping that messenger is active a while this morning. Y'all come back, heah?

Goliad

I toured the historic area of Goliad Texas this morning. The monument in the picture below marks the mass grave of some 300 Texans murdered by Mexican General Santa Anna. The men, led by Col Fannin, were surrounded by a much larger Mexican army. Col Fannin surrendered his men after being assured they would be treated as prisoners of war. Instead after they laid down their arms they were ordered shot.

I have 74 pictures to edit and decide to keep or discord. Those that I keep I plan to use later as supplements to an essay on Goliad I hope to find the discipline to write after I get back to Florida and my reference books.

For you who have never studied Texas history I encourage you to do so although you should avoid the revisionist historians. And if you find history just to boring but still would like to know why "Texas is not just a place...It is an attitude!" then I encourage you to find and read James Mitchner's "Texas" which although a novel tells the story of Texas nearly as well as Texas historians tell it.

Dawg Bloggin'

Little Sister, aka DONTGOTDAMIT, is having a tough time of it. She is full of it when there is no one around but extremely shy around strangers...and everyone is a stranger except sweetthing and me. She is so shy that she will not even do the potty thing if there is anyone else about...hmmmm inhibited I reckon but in any event she has gotta have a good bladder because there are 'strangers' in the park from daylight til 10 pm or later...and the only time she will go out is from 10 pm til daylight.DUMB DAWG

Good Morning Blog World

Becky and her husband Mike are taking me on a tour of Goliad tomorrow. I am looking forward to a fun and interesting trip.

I reckon most of you know by now that I had to lay over a couple of days here waiting for a part for the Jayco. Well, folks..I didn't bust that gear on purpose but the thought did enter my mind to come up with some reason to spend an extra couple of days here. This is just a wonderful place to visit and then having wonderful friends such as Becky and Mike...hell, I might bust that gear again...but I am afraid if I did sweetthing would say get out the gotdam hydraulic jack and lets go fishing.

So, unless the part is late getting here looks like we will be hitting the trail about daylight Wed morning. The plan is to spend the night near Ft Hood and have a visit with Walrillo and the FHB and then drive on to Lake Waurika Oklahoma on Thursday. It has been a good trip so far but I am sure grateful for this piece of junk laptop that has thus far let me stay in contact with friends and loved ones.

Tonight should have some more pictures...y'all come back, heah?

And the Winner IS....

the same same cooking team that set up our hide out. They also won first place for the best cooking place display...good people and we appreciated them taking time out to visit with us.

The Beach

My old Kodak surprised me with these shots I took late yesterday afternoon...didn't think I had enough light to capture what I was seeing...but the automatic light meter function appears to have worked this time...

Sunday Morning Coming Down

Yesterday was a good day...most of it spend here in the park with good company excepting a trip into town for the best Tex/Mex meal I have eaten in years.....since the last time I ate Tex/Mex in Texas for a fact. Blew my diet all to hell but we walked enough in the park late yesterday afternoon to work it off.

El Capitan (Matt) got in the park a little after one PM and Robert came in about 30 minutes later from Lake Charles.Robert is not a blogger...at least not yet... but some of you might remember him from another Texas blogger get together where he was introduced as coonass. Becky and I had already toured the bar-b-q cooking area and were waiting on them. Matt and Robert both had to leave to try to get home before the midnight hour and Becky and I went to the pavilion.

There was music and dancing in the big park pavilion last night....naaa I didn't dance...damn it. Sweetthing stayed in the Jayco...music to loud for her...and Becky has blown a knee...BAD...she is scheduled for a knee replacement Oct 19. But we enjoyed the music...my kind of music...mostly the C&W oldies by some singers that were not bad. But the rain hit and we headed for home before the storm hit...and it did by 10:00...hard.

Today is going to be a slow day. Sweetthing says we gotta find the launder-matt or I will have to wear dirty shirts next week and she does have a list for Wal-Mart.Oh well...always glad to help out a local Wally World bottom line. I don't know what I will do this afternoon...probably some blogging and blog reading.

I have not looked at the news yet...probably will in a bit but I kinda hate to spoil a good mood...such is rare for me on a Sunday morning. Y'all come, heah?

HEY GRINGO !!

Texas Bar-B-Q

Gonna be some good eats in the park after the judges pick a winner later this afternoon. This just two of many who are in the contest to see who is the best this year. And of course it will be the subjective decisions of the judging team.

Kinda Hiding Out

You might have to click on the picture and enlarge it to find us.

Hog Hunter

Hmmmmm. Now if I could just teach that damn gator to drop what it fetches...might just have to send it to New Joisey and let this lawyer friend of mine do the teaching.

It's A Dawg's Life

Little Sister, aka "DON'TGOTDAMIT", has found herself a comfortable spot on her blanket...the one she has had since she was a pup...it has been patched so many times that now it is more patches than blanket but Sister loves it...

Good Morning Blog World

I glanced at the Yahoo headlines this morning and this typhoon in the Philippines caught my eye. I do feel for the people there...I experienced a terrible storm such as this when I was a young man stationed on a detachment on Bataan. The wind blows for hours on end driving as much as four inches of rain an hour. And it gets dark..at high noon it was pitch black because of the heavy wind drove rain and a storm to thick and heavy with the clouds so high the sunlight could not break through. The flooding washed out the main bridges and isolated the province for several weeks...our supplies had to be brought into us from Clark AB by helicopter. It was not a fun time...we run out of beer and Jack Daniels....
..........................................................................................

The RV park is packed now...not an empty spot anywhere. There is going to be a bar b que cook off today and a dance tonight...and the forecast is 90 percent chance for rain. DAMN. I don't know how many bloggers will make it today...but rest assured that we will enjoy the day. Becky allows that if the rain is too bad we will go to her house but there should be enough cabanas here for us to get out f the weather....unless it is one of those wind driven rains where it is pouring down sideways.

I have fell for this area...must be the Texan in me. Port Lavaca is a nice place...a working class community in a beautiful area and what makes it so different is that although it is on the Gulf Coast it is not the tourist trap I am used to seeing in Florida coastal towns. I could live here and love it!

Had my grits and cackleberries this morning and I am ready for my second mug of jumpstart...may take it outside and watch the day break. Y'all come, heah?

Early Morning

I do like the early morning. This one was overcast and beautiful.

Beard Got Cut

Becky cleaned me up this morning...says I don't look like Santa Claus anymore. LOL Told her I probably looked at least a month younger now.

Burma Shave

My friend Pat M. e-mailed these old Burma shave ditties to me. Most of you probably are too young to have ever seen the Burma Shave road signs but for us over the hill gangsters these do bring back memories of road trips of yon.

Just think of the signs Burma Shave could have now...what with cell phones and texting..

Good Morning Blog World

We enjoyed good company and good chicken and dumplings at the Tall Cool Drink of Water Abode last night. I kinda have my doubts about how good f company I wuz...I wuz dead on my feet. I came back to the Jayco and went on line and tried to play POGO poker for a bit while talking on the Yahoo chat line...just wasn't my night for multi-tasking and gave up and went to bed...early.

Looks like maybe a full day today...gotta get the oil changed on the Ram...the damn nitrogen checked in the tires...take sweetthing to Wally World (there goes my budget)
and Becky is gonna clean up my beard and what hair I got left. And then if we have time she is going to take me for a ride around the bay so I can get some pictures.

I have not scanned the news yet except for the Yahoo home page...and all I saw there that interested me was something that is sure to piss off the Holy Rollers. Well, at least it ain't a missing link. According to the article we didn't evolve from monkeys...we just got a common ancestor. Hmmmm....with the chimp in the White House this becoming more believable...

Just got my first mug of jumpstart and quaffed my damn pills...give me an hours for the darvocet to fix my fingers and I might work up the energy tell you what I think about the current futile talks with Iran. Y'all come, heah?

RV Trouble

The electric jack on the Jayco that I use to hook up and unhook went south this morning. Got an RV repairmen out to look at it and he had to order the part...$325 bucks and I will have to wait until sometime Tuesday before he can get the thing in and get it installed. So looks like it will be Wed morning before we head North. Oh well...good park and good friend here...could be stuck someplace out in the middle of nowhere...been there and done that to.

Port Lavaca

We made it though Houston without a problem...no zombies, pirates, or hi-jackers...but I went through on cruise
control and locked and loaded.

We made it to Port Lavaca before daylight. Called Becky and she led us into the park...a beautiful RV park. I will post later with pictures. We are on the hill in # 7.

Good Morning Blog World

It is 4:10 EDT...3:10 CDT but I am still on eastern time...had planned on being on the road right now heading into Houston but sweetthing allowed she couldn't get around that early...told her fuck it...she can drive then...she is hurrying a bit more now.

I don't know if it is just me or if the road gets crazier every time I get on it. DAMN! The creator should have prepared us for crazy drivers...gave us three more sets of eyes....a set on each side and a set behind the head so we could watch out and keep from getting run over. Oh hell, if I had that many eyes I would no doubt need glasses for all of them....cost a damn fortune...

Took a glance at the early news...same old shit. Someone should just put a nuke in the Iranian ruling Mullah's front door and solve the problems...and maybe a bounty on every Palestinian caught carrying a gun or explosives....

I reckon I had best get started getting ready to hit the road. I'll post a picture or two this afternoon I hope...the Tall Cook Drink of Water is gonna feed us some yardbird and dumplings for supper....mmmmmmmmmmm good!

Y'all come, heah?
