Good Morning Blog World

My deepest sympathies for those who lost loved one in the horrible West Virginia mine explosion. According to the linked article that the accident could have been prevented if the company had used more precautions. If in fact the company was not following standard safety procedures someone should swing for it...but let me say this...ALL accidents are preventable. Accidents don't just happen...they are caused. And in high risk jobs such as mining there is always Murphy's Law in play. A company can take every safety procedure possible and there might still be some kind of a deadly accident...that's why mining is considered a high risk occupation. Those who work in the mines and other high risk jobs know this....but it still doesn't make it any easier on the families when these kind of tragedies occur.

I am not near as upbeat about the economy as the writer of this NY Times piece appears to be. Yes no doubt consumers are spending more money...cars and furniture wear out and eventually will have to be replaced and I have an idea this is what is happening right now. As long as the unemployment rate hovers at the 10 percent mark the economy will be sluggish...and as long as Obama and his socialist thugs are running the government there will not be many new business start ups and old businesses will be reluctant to tool up for new production and/or hire more employees. It is just not logical to venture capital when the socialist government stands ready to legally steal it....

It is a beautiful spring morning in my part of the world. I have some farming to do today...grass is high enough to make hay! I bought a new battery for the tractor yesterday and should put some new blades on the hay mower but too damn lazy to do it today...maybe next week.

Life is great my friends...and gets better every day. My angel of the morning told me she loved me and she knows I love and cherish her. The jumpstart got me going as it washed the grits and cackleberries and the second mug full has me wired and ready to go 'get 'er done!' Y'all come, heah?

The emperor allows that the continued high percentage of unemployment is encouraging because it is not getting any worse? WTF? The fact that the economy is not getting any worse is not due to him but in spite of him and his socialist programs. The job losses that will be caused by his health care reform will come later down the road as the provisions of the bill take effect but the bill as well as others he is proposing is part of the reason for the slow recovery from the recession. Venture capitalists are hesitant to venture capital when proposed new laws will make it difficult to make a profit on the capital. I have my doubts that the economy will improve under the Obama regime and the GOP might well use the theme from the Clinton campaign.... "the economy, stupid. " The difference is that the economy was in good shape during Clinton's run...he just convinced a gullible public it was bad. Obama has it in shambles with little chance of getting better.
.....................................................................................

Charles Krauthammer writes in the Washington Post about Obama and his hoods alienating and insulting allies including the United Kingdom. I have to concur with David Manning, a former British ambassador to the United States:

"[Obama] is an American who grew up in Hawaii, whose foreign experience was of Indonesia and who had a Kenyan father. The sentimental reflexes, if you like, are not there."

Well, nearly anyway...Manning believes that Obama is an American...I don't.

It is supposed to be another warm and sunny day in my part of the world. I am going to take advantage of it and get some chores done outside this morning such trying to get some weeds and grass mowed and maybe cleaning up a couple of raised flower beds. Spring has finally sprung...a month late for this area but at least I am not worried about a freeze now. Life is good my friends when you know your angel of the morning loves you because she makes a point of telling you so early in the day. Y'all come, heah?

Good Morning Blog World

I had an uneventful flight back from Newfoundland yesterday. I can honestly say I did not want to leave there...it is a beautiful place. I had an awesome time...such that I can't wait to go back and I will I hope this summer.

I did have one minor surprise on the way back...my flight was routed through Toronto and I had to clear USA customs there...I have flown into the USA so many times in the past I can't remember them all and I cannot ever remember clearing USA customs in the departed country, this was something different. Damn near caused me to miss my flight.

Flying is not as pleasant as it used to be for me...especially on the West Jet economy flights. Not only does the airline pack the passengers in like sardines in a can they also charge you for every amenity...$7.00 to rent a pillow? Fuck 'em. $6.00 for a cold chicken sammich? Well, I WAS hungry....next time I will spend the extra bucks and fly Air Canada...

The USA is taking security serious though...and I am happy about that. I did not see one person that got past the security folks with out a shakedown and that is the way it is supposed to be. I did feel safe without my gun...at least til I got off the plane.

It has been several days since I ever looked at the news...got some catching up to do I reckon...oh hell, maybe not. It probably is the same old shit. Ragheads blowing people up and Obama giving them his tacit approval to do it while he is ripping off the USA taxpayers. But being a news and politics junkie I reckon I will pick up where I left off...sometime this morning but not now.

I am on my second mug of strong jumpstart...the kind that gives me a kick and gets my day started. My angel of the morning told me early that she loves me and she knows that I adore and cherish her. Life is what one makes it my friends and life is to short to not enjoy to the fullest...and I am doing my best to make and keep mine good and enjoyable. Y'all come, heah?

Good Morning Blog World

Today is the last day in Newfoundland...at least for this trip. I have had an awesome visit and wish now I had planned it for at least a week longer. But there is always next time and rest assured there will be a next time...Newfoundland is like that I reckon...a wonderful place that just grows on you.

The weather here yesterday was pleasant...light jacket weather and just a hint of a breeze...perfect for walking and we did some. Last night we had fish and chips at the hotel restaurant...deep fried breaded fresh cod is hard to beat! Later we dropped a few bucks into a electric bandit...and of course the bandit robbed us...anything that puts its back to the wall and challenges the whole gotdam world and stats there is gonna beat you...BAWAHAHAHAHA...but it is fun trying.

My flight out leaves at 6am in the morning...layover in Toronto and then arrive in Tampa tomorrow afternoon...back to the hot Florida weather and a jillion things to do before I make the plans to return here for another visit.

Life is good my friends...my angel of the morning loves me and I adore her. The hotel room coffee is drinkable after I run it through the machine twice...and add a chocolate bar to it to give it a kick. I will be blogging again Monday with some pictures of St Johns...and I do have some on faceboook for you facebook friends to look at.

Good Morning Blog World

Brrrrrr It was a cold day in St Johns Newfoundland yesterday. We too a cab to Water Street and a quick walk along the waterfront...and quick it was! It was foggy to the point of misting rain and the wind was blowing at 10mph....and that at a couple of degrees above freezing. But it was a wonderful day anyway. I just have to get back here next month or in June after it warms up.

I love Newfoundland. I have met the friendliest and most hospitable people I have ever met in my life. I don't think I have seen a frown on a face since I have been here.

I do miss my extra strong mug of jumpstart...the hotel coffee maker is pre-packed and ok for normal coffee drinkers. But I ain't a normal coffee drinker...

Life is great my friends. My angel of the morning loves me and I adore her. And people, I am here to tell you, if you have never been to St Johns Newfoundland you don't know what you are missing. So that is why I am saying to ya, y'all come, heah?

I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN
